Alignment in Business Begins with Everyday Choices
In my Crush column I talk about finding courage to build the business you desire – and about the painful truth that many women entrepreneurs face, when they know and feel the business their heart is calling them to build, yet they choose something “better” their mind tells them to.
You feel the misalignment immediately, even if you pretend not to. That choice leaves a quiet ache behind – and feels like the pain of self-betrayal. And that misalignment always collects its price in energy, money, or joy. That is understandable, because you give so much of your time, energy and love to the business you are building.
I see so many brilliant women living in that hesitation for far too long: which path to follow. It’s not just about making a big business decision anymore.
It’s about choosing or not choosing authenticity.
The choice of authenticity comes across in everyday business decisions also. Those are the moments you either align or misalign your business to feel more like you. These tiny decisions eventually create your entire business.
Many of us forget this.
It is easy to get off track already on Monday morning when you:
- work with a client who doesn’t align with your values.
- say yes to a project that drains more than it gives.
- post text written by AI that doesn’t really sound like you.
- ignore your intuition, even when it’s loud and clear.
The longer you stay disconnected, the more distant your business feels.
What matters is how quickly you return to yourself
None of us are in perfect business alignment 24/7. We make mistakes, fail, make wrong decisions, take the wrong path.
But what matters is that you learn from those moments. You notice when you step out of alignment and choose differently. You return back to yourself, your truth. So you don’t need to repeat the same story over and over again.
Alignment is an everyday practice.
It is a commitment and a daily act of self-respect.
Over the past few months, I’ve stepped massively out of alignment as I have worked too much. I know it, yet I still haven’t allowed myself enough rest. But my awareness around this has grown. The other day, I noticed my nervous system didn’t return from the sympathetic state as quickly as it should have. I had pushed myself too far. That moment reminded me that my wellbeing is the foundation of my business. So that evening, I slowed down and took the time to truly care for myself.
Alignment isn’t always easy. Most of the time, it can be really uncomfortable to put you and your wellbeing first in business. It is certainly not easy to sometimes even know what you want and need deep down and then act on it. But the more you are anchored in yourself, your heart and soul, the easier it gets.
Just in a few months, I have noticed a shift in me:
- Always saying yes to everything, I finally say no to clients I could have helped easily but who were not in alignment with what I want to do or my prices.
- I went from being uncomfortable stating my prices to sharing them without hesitation.
These might sound like small changes, but they shift everything as they signal self-trust. Yes, I can still hear these stories in my mind that keep questioning my choices. But I know my truth and stay true to myself.
Where I see women entrepreneurs struggling
We often ignore our heart’s messages and live too much in our heads. We stay in the masculine energy of logic and control, unconsciously searching for safetythat way – instead of feeling the feminine wisdom in our bodies.
It isn’t easy to hear, trust, or act on your intuition. It can be confusing to understand what is a fear-based reaction versus your deeper inner knowing.
And that tension in your body… does it mean “this is not for me” or “is this my fear and I am scared because this is exactly what I want beyond my mind”?
Remember, you don’t need to be perfectly aligned. It is more about committing to yourself and your authenticity.
So start with one honest step today at work. Your business and your body will recognize it instantly. And the deeper you know yourself and the more connected you are – the easier alignment in business becomes.
