Your Wounded Inner Child Impacts Your Success
When we talk about success, especially in business or leadership, we usually focus on performance, money, mindset, strategy, or productivity.
But there’s a quieter, deeper force at play, often overlooked, yet profoundly influential:
Your inner child.
More specifically: your wounded inner child.
What Is the Wounded Inner Child?
Your inner child holds your earliest experiences, emotions, unmet needs, trauma and core beliefs. We all carry different inner child archetypes. The specific sub-types that dominate your life depend on your individual journey.
In this context, I’m referring to the wounded aspect—as the part that felt unseen, not enough, hurt, insecure, etc. The part that didn’t get what it needed. The part that was rejected.
That part still lives in your nervous system, your emotional responses, your thoughts—and yes, even in your career decisions.
How the Wounded Inner Child Shows Up at Work
With every client, whether they’re a CEO, founder, team leader, or entrepreneur, this wounded inner child eventually reveals itself when we access the deeper layers of healing.
There’s no shame in having this part.
And if you think there is no wounded inner child within you, it may simply be because you haven’t yet recognized that part of yourself. And that’s okay. Maybe reading this is your sign that now is the time.
On the surface, it can show up in subtle ways, like:
- People-pleasing to avoid rejection
- Overworking to prove your worth
- Fear of visibility, even when you know your message matters
- Imposter syndrome rooted in early “not good enough” narratives
- Perfectionism as a form of control
- Avoiding risk
You might tell yourself it’s just stress or “how I’ve always been.” But often, it’s your wounded inner child unconsciously running the show.
I’m Healing, Too
I don’t just teach this work. I live it.
My own wounded inner child healing journey began in 2020, when I left my corporate career, home country, apartment, and old identity behind in one massive change.
That collapse stripped me to the core and for the first time, I truly met my wounded inner child. There was now space for her to be seen. I didn’t know how to heal her, but I started anyway. Slowly. Gently. With help.
Today, nurturing her is a normal part of my life. And yes, even if I know “how to do the work” sometimes I still need professional support. That’s part of the journey, too.
How Healing the Wounded Inner Child Changes Your Life
When you begin to give your inner child what she/he never received: validation, love, presence, permission to rest, permission to be seen, you rewire your internal system, including your nervous system. And when your inner world shifts, your outer world follows. And the results are real, deep, lasting, and practical.
Here’s what I’ve witnessed in myself and in the women I work with:
- Taking big, long-delayed steps: like starting new businesses, moving countries, or finally leaving behind roles that no longer fit
- Daring to be seen fully: professionally, and truly as yourself in your relationships
- Setting boundaries from a place of self-respect: saying no where you once said yes out of guilt or fear
- Leading and loving from a deeper, more grounded, and authentic place
- Letting go of people-pleasing & overworking
Your confidence grows. Your boundaries strengthen. You feel safer. You feel worthy and wanted.
Your life becomes better.
Heal with me for a sec.
Look within yourself: How is your wounded inner child affecting your success right now?
Are you people-pleasing or overachieving? Saying yes when you really want to say no? Feeling rejected, unseen, or not enough?
What ever way this part of you is surfacing, pause and take a breath. Be with that aspect of you. Give her (or him) what’s needed in this moment.
And if you’re ready for a safe, grounded space to go deeper—I’m here.
